Privacy Policy – Cooknado.com

Last Updated: September 13, 2025

Hey there! I know nobody loves reading privacy policies, but I want you to know exactly what information I collect and why. I believe in being completely transparent about how I handle your data because trust is everything in this relationship.

Information I Collect

When you sign up for my newsletter: I collect your email address and first name (if you share it). That’s it. I use this to send you new recipes, cooking tips, and the occasional personal update about what’s happening in my kitchen.

When you comment on recipes: Your name (whatever you want to call yourself), email address, and your comment. I love hearing how recipes work in your kitchen, your creative substitutions, and honestly, even when things go wrong – it helps me improve.

When you contact me directly: Whatever information you choose to share in your emails. Sometimes people tell me about their dietary restrictions, family food preferences, cooking disasters, or recipe requests. I keep this information to help me create better content for everyone.

Website analytics: I use Google Analytics to see which recipes are most popular, where visitors come from, and what devices you’re using. This helps me know if my new chicken recipe is a hit or if I need to make my photos bigger for mobile users. It’s anonymous data – I can’t identify individual visitors.

Cookies: My website uses cookies to remember your preferences (like if you prefer metric measurements), keep you logged in if you have an account, and to help me understand which recipes are working well. Nothing invasive, just making your experience smoother.

How I Use Your Information

Email newsletter: I send new recipes, cooking tips, and kitchen updates. Usually 2-3 times per week, never more than once daily. I write these personally – no automated marketing nonsense.

Recipe improvements: When you tell me how a recipe worked (or didn’t work) in your kitchen, I use that feedback to update and improve recipes for everyone.

Content creation: Anonymous feedback and questions help me decide what recipes to work on next. If five people ask about gluten-free pasta alternatives, that becomes my next project.

Customer service: If you email me with problems or questions, I keep that information to help you and to improve the website experience.

Data Protection & Security

I take protecting your information seriously. Your email list is stored with Mailchimp, which is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant. I don’t store credit card information (if you buy anything, that’s handled by secure payment processors).

I backup website data regularly and use SSL encryption for all data transmission. I’ve never had a data breach, and I’m committed to keeping it that way.

Your Rights (You’re In Control)

Access: Want to know what information I have about you? Just email me at privacy@cooknado.com and I’ll send you everything.

Correction: If something’s wrong, let me know and I’ll fix it immediately.

Deletion: Want me to delete your information? No problem. Email me and I’ll remove you from everything within 7 days. You’ll miss my recipes, but I understand.

Portability: Want your data in a format you can use elsewhere? I’ll send it to you.

Unsubscribe: Every email has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you’re done. No guilt trips, no “are you sure?” pages.

For EU residents: These rights are guaranteed under GDPR. For California residents: These rights are guaranteed under CCPA. For everyone else: I believe you deserve these rights regardless of where you live.

Cookies & Tracking

I use cookies to:

  • Remember if you prefer metric or imperial measurements
  • Keep track of recipes you’ve bookmarked (if you create an account)
  • Understand which recipes are popular
  • Make sure the website works properly

You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features might not work as well. I don’t sell cookie data to anyone or use it for advertising tracking.

Third-Party Services

Mailchimp: Handles my email newsletter. They’re GDPR compliant and don’t sell your data. Google Analytics: Helps me understand website traffic. It’s anonymized data. Cloudflare: Protects the website and makes it load faster. Stripe/PayPal: If you buy anything, they handle the payment processing securely.

I only work with companies that meet high privacy standards. I don’t share your personal information with anyone else, ever.

Children’s Privacy

My website isn’t specifically directed at children under 13, but I know kids sometimes use family computers to browse recipes. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you’re a parent and think I might have your child’s information, please contact me immediately and I’ll delete it.
